The Client's Challenge

Extend the design system of a digital-first brand by creating a durable physical brand identity for a new banking offering for Intuit’s small business customers.

The Strategic Approach

Our team partnered with the Intuit Design Team to develop a distinctive card that embodies the attributes of the QuickBooks brand in a 2D and 3D modern and recognizable way. We creatively worked within the constraints of the Visa card design guidelines and left every detail crafted and intentional to reinforce Intuit’s commitment to their customers.

The Creative Solution

Designing this Card, the new Payments Hardware System, and the Packaging allowed us the opportunity to create a cohesive system. Through visual hierarchy, the card’s design celebrates the Small Business paired with the QuickBooks brand, and introduced a recognizable gradient foil print to signify the Brand and interaction zones of the product in the physical world.

The Business Impact

The QuickBooks Debit Card has garnered new accounts and enables Small Business Owners to effortlessly process payments, supporting them to run their business with confidence, using a card that’s integrated with the QuickBooks software platform.

Digital to Physical

Understanding and visualizing the different contexts of physical use helped to guide the design development early on, and helped the Intuit leadership team evaluate the efficacy and impact of this chosen direction as it successfully delivers a strong brand impression across both in-wallet and in-use scenarios.



Once the design direction was chosen our team continued to sweat the details to ensure the highest quality cards were created, including the final press check where white saturation, the iridescent gradient stripe, and the QuickBooks brand color accuracy were all dialed in to ensure this physical manifestation of the brand reinforced a quality standard that elicits trust.
